How We Helped David Get a No Credit Check Contract Phone

Don't want to go through a credit check? Can't pass a credit check? If either of these questions describes you, then you might be wondering if it's possible for you to get a mobile phone contract at all. Fortunately, there might be some solutions for you. Read on to find out all you need to know about no credit check phone contracts!

The Credit Check Problem

You might not have considered the fact that a credit check could be necessary for a mobile phone contract, and yet it is. Mobile operators traditionally run credit checks on customers before signing contracts because they want to know that you're going to be able to pay your bills. And in the case of an incentive contract, which comes with a mobile phone, they want to know that you'll be able to pay for that phone in instalments.

This can mean that if you have bad credit or no credit history at all, it can be tough to find a mobile phone contract. But there are some things that you should know about no credit check phone contracts.

Option One

Some companies do advertise completely credit check free contracts. In general, these companies are not mobile operators. Instead these companies act as a guarantor for your contract, essentially signing the contract for you, and they then charge you premium prices for the contract each month. This can be a pretty expensive option, and isn't really the ideal choice.

Option Two

Luckily, some mobile operators do themselves offer no credit check contracts. These come with a couple of conditions though, meaning they may or may not be suitable for your needs.

Firstly, no credit check contracts tend to be SIM Only. This means that you won't get a mobile phone as part of the deal, you'll get only the SIM card which will have a calling plan attached. This does give you the calling minutes, texts, and mobile data that you need, but you'll need to supply your own phone.

Secondly, these contracts tend to be one month rolling contracts, rather than a traditional 24 month contract. Each month the contract will automatically roll over for another month as long as you've paid the bill. You're free to cancel the contract whenever you like, and if a bill goes unpaid, then your service will be cut off. This isn't necessarily a bad option at all, but do be aware of the fact that you're likely to be paying a little more for a one month rolling contract than you would for a longer term contract.

Option Three

There is another option, though strictly speaking this isn't a no credit check contract at all. If you have bad credit you may still be able to get a phone contract along with a mobile phone by changing your expectations a little.

Let's get an example here. Perhaps you applied for a phone contract that included a new iPhone 7 as part of the deal and got denied. You may get approved for that same contract if you're willing to pay some money up front. Pay £100 or so towards the cost of the phone up front and then you could get approved. Alternatively, ditching the idea of the iPhone 7 and going for a cheaper, older model of phone might also mean that you get approved.

You'll still undergo a credit check for these kinds of contracts, but since you're basically “borrowing” less money from the operator then the operator might not be quite so strict about how good your credit really needs to be.

No Hassle Mobiles Phones are an excellent company and I would definitely recommend them because they don’t waste your time and they are very helpful.

The Bottom Line

No credit check phone contracts do exist, and there are ways of getting phone service and perhaps even a phone even if you have bad credit. You are likely to pay more for these options than you would for a normal phone contract, however. Paying a little extra could be worth it. However, if you're willing to work on your credit history and improve your rating for a couple of months then you might find it's cheaper to wait and get a regular contract with your better credit.
