If you've got bad credit, or you simply don't want to have a mobile contract affect your credit rating, then no credit check SIM only deals are a great way to get mobile service. Luckily, there are tons of great deals around for no credit check SIMs. We're taking a look at what your options are, so that you can make the best buying decision!

No Credit Check, Really?

Traditionally, mobile operators do ask for credit checks when signing a contract. This is because they want to know that you're a safe risk, and that you're going to be able to pay your bills on time. But some operators will waive that credit check in certain circumstances, particularly when it comes to SIM only deals. So yes, these deals really are no credit check at all. No matter what your credit rating looks like, you'll still be able to get mobile service!

SIM Only Contracts

Mobile operators offer three kinds of service: Pay As You Go (PAYG), SIM Only, and Incentive Contracts. Incentive contracts include a new mobile phone, and rather than paying up front for that phone you'll instead be paying a monthly fee for it. These contracts are rarely if ever offered as no credit check deals (since mobile phones are expensive!).

PAYG deals are always no credit check, since you won't be using a service and paying a bill, instead you'll be paying the bill (topping up with credit) and then using the service. But PAYG does have its limitations, like running out of credit at a bad time, and costs tend to be higher.

SIM Only contracts give you a monthly contract where you pay a monthly bill, and contain a calling plan (so a fixed amount of minutes, texts and mobile data). But they do not include a phone. And some operators give you the option of a no credit check SIM Only deal. This lets you combine the convenience of a phone contract with the knowledge that you won't need to pass a credit check.

Operator Options

You actually have several options when it comes to operators, though the UK's major operators tend not to offer SIM only no credit check deals. If you want to compare options, here are the operators that you should be looking at:

  • iD Network
  • The People's Operator
  • Giffgaff
  • Asda Mobile
  • Lebara Mobile
  • FreedomPop

These operators are what are known as MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators), which means that they offer their own contracts and plans but they actually rent their networks from one of the four major UK operators (EE, O2, Vodafone, Three). All should offer you good service and reception.

SIM Only Contract Options

When it comes to length of contract, none of these operators will force you to sign a term contract (so no one year or two year contracts). Instead, they offer rolling monthly contracts. This means that you pay for a month of service and when that month is over the contract automatically rolls over to the next month. This has the advantage of meaning that you can cancel your contract any time you like after that first month.

You'll also have a wide range of different calling plans available to choose from. Plans go from around 100 minutes of calling up to unlimited calling, 100 texts per month up to unlimited texts, and from zero mobile data up to around 6 GB of data as the maximum. All you'll need to do is decide which calling plan is appropriate for your needs!

Obviously, cost is going to be important, but again, you'll have plenty of choices. In fact, you can find no credit check SIM Only deals from as low as £4 per month! The more data, minutes and texts you add to your plan, the more expensive it's going to be, but prices don't have to break the bank. For example, an unlimited minute and text plan with 2.25 GB of data is as low as £6.99 a month with Lebara Mobile.

No Credit Check Operator Deals

Having bad credit shouldn't be an obstacle to getting great mobile phone service. And with no credit check SIM Only deals, you can get the service you want at the price that's right for you and you'll never have to worry about your credit score! Your only problem now is deciding which of the many deals to go for…
